Introduction
Charities and Philanthropy form an integral part of the core values of Custodianship as exemplified by the House of Mewar. Adhering to ancient Vedic principles, every Custodian of the House of Mewar, through the centuries, has 'given' to the community and society at large without favour, prejudice or desire for recognition. Through the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, the charities of the House have been institutionalized with the formation and development of various public and private charitable trusts, which operate under the parameters of Indian law.
