A Structural Restoration Project at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur

As beautiful and awe inspiring that it is, the City Palace that houses the Museum, has over the years been subjected to tremendous wear and tear; it is but after all 450+ years!

The Museum brought on Dr. Kaizad Engineer, Technical Director, Ushta Infinity Const. Co. Pvt. Ltd., to talk about the extensive and pain staking project at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur undertaken to restore this living heritage monument to its original grandeur.

Architectural Gems of India - The City Palace Museum, Udaipur

Car India Magazine had previously visited The City Palace Museum, Udaipur for its 'Architectural Gems of India' initiative. The Museum and the glorious palace of Udaipur featured in its video as part of the series. Dr. Shikha Jain, Consultant, MMCF, Director, Dronah spoke to Car India Magazine about the multi-disciplinary approach for a sustainable long term solution, incorporated at the Museum.

Exploration of the Arms and Armour Collection

Assistant Conservators (Arms and Armour), Ms. Srabani Gayen and Ms. Dhwani Meghani took viewers on a virtual tour of the Arms Conservation Laboratory, with detailed, informative videos on the Shields and Guns of Mewar, and the Conservation process involved therein.

Digital Collaborations with Varnika Designs and Museums Memories Project

Varnika Designs and the Museums Memories Project are initiatives of Ms. Poulomi Das, Board member, Commonwealth Association of Museums. She invited Ms. Chelsea Santos, Assistant Curator at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur to join in collaboration with her for a week-long Social Media takeover in the month of April 2020, as someone from the Museum field.

During this takeover, she showcased her journey of Mewar and The City Palace Museum, Udaipur; from a dual perspective of a tourist and that of a professional in the field. Geography, history, art, iconography, religion, culture were some of the topics she covered through images and informative texts.

Ms. Santos also featured in her Museum Memories Project where she shared how she, on a personal level, connects with her place of work i.e. The City Palace Museum, Udaipur.
