Holika Ropan - Setting of Holika Effigy

Holika Ropan (setting up a Holika Effigy) is a unique ritual observed in the Northern part of India on Purnima or the full moon day in the Magh month. The effigy was made at The Manek Chowk, The City Palace, Udaipur with traditional customs and rituals. It is a ritual associated with Holi festival. The day kick starts with the preparation for the Holi festival. The Ropan ritual holds great significance for people who believe in and celebrate the festival of Holi. Holika Dahan will take place on the next Purnima or full moon day, which is the Phalgun Purnima.

Udaipur World Music Festival in Udaipur

The second edition of the extravagant festival Udaipur World Music Festival was held from Feb 10th to 12th February, 2017. This time more than 150 artists from over 16 countries including United Kingdom, Italy, South Africa, Senegal, Canada, Armenia, Turkey, Macedonia, Mozambique, Norway, Iran, Cuba, Switzerland and India among other nations performed at multiple venues across the city of lakes, Udaipur.

MMCF and HRH Group of Hotels supported the event. Jagmandir Island Palace, Udaipur was offered as venue for the morning meditative concerts.

The festival was presented by Hindustan Zinc in association with Wonder Cement and Rajasthan Tourism and conceptualized and produced by SEHER .

On 11th February 2017 Jagmandir Island Palace witnessed Vedic Chantting by Panini Kanya Mahavidyalaya; Hindustani Classical Music by Madhup Mudgal and Adana- Vardan Hovanissian (Duduk) and Emre Gultekin (Vocal-Saz) - A deep hymn celebrating the history of two vibrant cultures Armenia and Turkey.
