Unveiling Haqiqat Bahida: Kunwar pada Baojiraj Shri Bhupal Singh Part-1 and 2

Shriji and Mr. Bhupendra Singh Auwa, Administrator in Chief, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation unveiled the book 'Haqiqat Bahida: Kunwar pada Baojiraj Shri Bhupal Singh Part-1 and 2' at Shambhu Niwas Palace, Udaipur. “When Maharana Fateh Singh sat on the throne of Mewar due to sad demise of Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884, his son Kunwar Bhupal Singh was only 10 months old and was brought to The Palace along with his mother, new Rani Saheba with all pomp and show. From the day Kunwar Bhupal Singh arrived in the Palace and was designated Baojiraj, a daily account of his life and activity was meticulously recorded in the daily diary called 'Haqiqat Bahida'. The word 'Kunwar pada' means the period when he was the heir-apparent to the ruler”. The period covered in these two volumes is from 1884 to 1930, after which he succeeded his father to the throne of Mewar. In these volumes we have covered his child hood, later his illness which made him specially-abled, his education, training in Statecraft, love for riding and hunting, his three marriages, meeting VIP dignitaries etc.

Holika Ropan – Setting of Holika Effigy

Holika Ropan (setting up a Holika Effigy) is a unique ritual observed in the northern part of India on Purnima or the full moon day in the month of Magh. The effigy was made at The Manek Chowk, The City Palace, Udaipur with traditional customs and rituals. It is a ritual associated with the festival of Holi. The day kick starts the preparation for the Holi festival. The Ropan ritual holds great significance for people who believe in and celebrate the festival of Holi. Holika Dahan will take place on the next Purnima or full moon day, which is the Phalgun Purnima.

Art Exhibition: Experiments in Warli Art by Ms. Amita Vyas

Experiment in Warli Art – an exhibition of Pencil Sketch artwork by Ms. Amita Vyas was held at Chhota Darikhana, Ganesh Chowk, The City Palace Museum from 26th Feb. The three day exhibition was free for the visitors.

Artist Amita Vyas is a Chartered Account by profession. She is passionate about art and especially Warli Art (pencil sketch). The exhibition displayed 35 of her artworks. MMCF supported the exhibition.
