Holika Dahan Ceremony - 2026

Holi, the festival of colors, heralds spring and celebrates the triumph of good over evil. On 2nd March 2026, The City Palace, Udaipur, hosted a splendid Holika Dahan ceremony steeped in tradition and pageantry.

The event began with a regal procession from Shambhu Niwas Palace to Manek Chowk, led by Shriji Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar arriving in a 1905 English Royal Landau, Four-in-Hand, and Master Haritraj Singh Mewar in a 1946 M.G. TC. Upon reaching Manek Chowk, they received a guard of honour from the Mewar security team.

The temple priests conducted the sacred pooja, attended by members of the Mewar family: Shriji Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Mrs. Nivritti Kumari Mewar, Master Haritraj Singh Mewar, Miss Mohlakshika Kumari Mewar, and Miss Praneshwari Kumari Mewar. After the circumambulation (parikrama) of the Holika effigy, the ceremonial Holika Dahan was performed, symbolising the victory of good over evil, rooted in the legend of Prahlad and Holika. Shriji and Master Haritraj Singh Mewar sought blessings from revered sadhus and priests at Nagina Badi, embracing the spiritual spirit of the occasion. Cultural performances followed, including a stirring Gair dance by Mr. Ramesh Buliya and his troupe from Gair Nritya Dal Mandal, Bhilwara, and Phool Phaag, where participants played Holi with flower petals.

The Holika Dahan Ceremony 2026 at The City Palace Udaipur was a graceful blend of ritual, culture, and community celebrating tradition while bringing together residents and visitors in joy and harmony.
