Workshop, "From Kitabkhana [Library] to Karkhana [Workshop]: The Arts of the Book in South Asia" The virtual workshop "From Kitabkhana [Library] to Karkhana [Workshop]: The Arts of the Book in South Asia" was held on September 10, 2021. The workshop examined art books and book arts in South Asia from 1100 C.E. to the present. As part of this workshop, participants analyzed the relationship of visuality, materiality, orality, and textuality. Session speakers included Iftikhar Dadi (Cornell), Sylvia Houghteling (Bryn Mawr), Sonal Khullar (University of Pennsylvania), Jinah Kim (Harvard), Yael Rice (Amherst), Holly Shaffer (Brown), Laura Weinstein (MFA Boston), and Anand Yang (University of Washington). It was organized by Wolf Humanities Center, University of Pennsylvania. several participating museums and galleries initiated on
Curators Day on 15th September 2021.

Book Launch 'Royal Textiles of Mewar' Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, Chairman and Managing Trustee, MMCF launched the book 'Royal Textiles of Mewar' at Shambhu Niwas Palace, Udaipur on 17th September 2021. The book is a compilation of details of the royal textile used by the Mewar royal family. It features rich text with photographs which represents the rich Living Heritage of Mewar. Most of these textiles are already on display at Gokul Niwas Gallery: The Curtain Raiser - The Mewar Regalia Textiles and Costumes Exhibition at The City Palace, Museum, Udaipur. The book is edited and written by Dr. Rosemary Crill along co writers Ms. Jyoti Jasol, Ms. Anamika Pathak and Ms. Smita Singh. Virtual Lecture Series-Celebrating 500th Birth Anniversary of Maharana Udai Singh II MMCF celebrated 500th birth anniversary of Maharana Udai Singh II by organising Virtual Lecture Series in association with Archaeological Survey of India, Jodhpur Circle from 17th September 2021. Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar initiated this lecture series by briefing the audience about the work of Maharana Udai Singh II in field of economic, social and religious aspects, and his views on the same. He pointed out the Maharana's farsighted vision for 'Udaipur' and his efforts towards making it one of the most beautiful cities, with a world presence. He stated that with his vision, Mewar has prospered as much as it has. |
