Ashwa Poojan 2014

Come Navratri, the auspicious nine day festival that secures its position in the Hindu calendar, the Rajputs are seen celebrating will full pomp and show. The ninth day is celebrated by paying tribute to all aspects of life that a Rajput’s life depends on. The horse, being a prime one, is given due respect and worshipped every year on this day. The ceremony, popularly known as Ashwa Poojan, continues to be conducted in the same grandeur as used to be done centuries back.

Ashwa Poojan 2014 like each year was the talk of the town and held eyes and hearts of all present. The Mewar grandeur filled the air as the ceremony proceeded. The ceremony started with the elaborate procession carrying Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur in the 19th century carriage ‘Royal Landau Four-in-Hand’ and Shriji’s sword in a separate carriage to Manek Chowk. The worship of the equinity followed by Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar meeting with the guests at Khush Mahal Chowk before refreshments being served. Needless to mention the intricacy with which the selectively bred Marwari horses were decorated with pure silver ornaments.
