2nd International Conference on Living Heritage
On the 13th March 2014, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation in association with UNESCO New Delhi organised the 2nd International Conference on Living Heritage at Sabhagaar Conference Hall, The Durbar Hall, Fateh Prakash Palace, Udaipur. The conference marks the second in a series of programmes and events that MMCF plans to organise around the theme 'Living Heritage’.
The conference aims to present examples of living heritage with an objective of outlining a clear framework for promoting the concept of living heritage. Along with it, the intent is also to look at other living heritage case studies in India and Abroad. The idea is to outline a framework to promote living heritage.
The inaugural session ‘Introduction to Living Heritage of Udaipur’ started with the lighting of the lamp, bouquet presentation and welcome address by Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, Special address by Ms. Moe Chiba, Programme Specialist for Culture, UNESCO New Delhi and Key note address by Dr. Vinayshil Gautam, Senior Adviser, KPMG and Chairman, DK International Foundation on Living Heritage With One Tear and Two Cheers (A Longitudinal Perspective from Management Anthropology). The session followed by the address by the Chief Guest His Excellency Mr. François Richier, Ambassador of France to India, Embassy of France in India and launch of the book titled ‘Concept Publication on Udaipur as a Living Heritage City’.
Ms. Vrinda Raje Singh, Coordinator – WLHF 2014, MMCF presented a note of thanks and compering was done by Mr. Raju Mansukhani, Media Consultant MMCF.
The first session started with the presentation by Dr. Rajeshwari Narendran, Associate Professor and Ex. Head, Business Administration, University college of Commerce and Management Studies, MLSU, Udaipur on topic ‘Leadership Styles of Rulers of Mewar’; Dr. Shikha Jain, DRONAH, Gurgaon and Dr. Rachna Khare, School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal on topic ‘Living Heritage and Achieving Livability: Linking Palace and the City; Ms. Minja Yang, President & Professor at Raymond Lemaire International Centre for Conservation, KU/ Leuven (Belgium) briefed on Udaipur: International Collaborations and Dr. R. P. Sharma, Ex-Secretary Urban Improvement Trust, Udaipur, Registrar, Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur briefed on Udaipur Master Plan 2021.
