Stakeholders Consultation Meeting on Museum Issues was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and National Museum India of History of Art, Conservation and Museology, Janpath, New Delhi. The event was held at Conference Hall, National Museum, New Delhi. Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation was represented by Dr. Mayank Gupta, Deputy Secretary MMCF – Development.

Holika Ropan – Setting of Holika Effigy

Holika Ropan (setting up a Holika Effigy) is a unique ritual observed in the Northern part of India on Purnima or the full moon day in the Magh month. The effigy was made at The Manek Chowk, The City Palace, Udaipur with traditional customs and rituals. It is a ritual associated with Holi festival. The day kick starts the preparation for the Holi festival. The Ropan ritual holds great significance for people who believe in and celebrate the festival of Holi. Holika Dahan will take place on the next Purnima or full moon day, which is the Phalgun Purnima.

A 52 member delegation from Rotary Club, Mumbai visited the City Palace Museum, Udaipur. Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation supported this visit by offering complimentary entry passes for all members.

Launch of Mobile Application

The City Palace Museum has been proactively preserving heritage and presenting the time honoured traditions of the people of Mewar to the world for decades. Talking of time, staying abreast with the now and keeping the yesterday alive has been the forte of Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF). And here we are with the mobile app of the much cherished City Palace Museum bringing both the worlds where you are.

The City Palace Museum is a wonderful architectural experience of the built heritage of the region. Rana Udai Singh II the father of Rana Pratap laid the foundation of the City Palace, in AD 1559, on the advice of a Hermit Goswami Prem Giriji Maharaj.
