Director General, Indo German Chamber of Commerce, New Delhi; Ms. Leela Narula and Ms. Sumati Sud at a special screening of a documentary film ‘Munich In India’ organized by the film’s director Mr. Walter Steffen, Ms. Kia Ahrndsen and Mr. Heiko Sievers, Regional Director, Goethe Institute at Max Mueller Bhawan, New Delhi. The jacket was made by Bayerisches Trachteninformationszentrum.

Mr. Walter Steffen's 90 minute documentary ‘MUNICH IN INDIA’ tells the story, through his grandson Mr. Konstantin Fritz, about the German painter Hannes Fritz-Munich and his travels in India to paint portraits of Maharajas. Hannes Fritz travelled in India in the 1930’s under the name “Fritz Munich“ when he became a sought-after court painter for a number of Maharajas.

Konstantin Fritz is the center character of the film as he searches for the truth that lay behind the magical stories about India that he heard from his grandparents when he was a child.

The production team visited Udaipur to film Shriji for their documentary. Hannes Fritz-Munich had stayed in Udaipur in 1932 and painted a portrait of Maharana Bhupal Singh. The premiere was held at the Film festival of India 2012 at Goa.
