Kartik Poornima Celebrations at Jagmandir Island Palace, Udaipur

Kartik Poornima Celebrations at Jagmandir Island Palace, Udaipur On the 28th November Eternal Mewar celebrated the festival of Kartik Poornima, as part of a cultural and heritage tourism initiative by the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation in association with HRH Group of Hotels at Jagmandir Island Palace, Udaipur. At the concert, dance Radha Raas, captured a unique secular initiative; the divine love of Krishna as imagined and experienced through the poetry of the great Muslim poets, sung as Qawwallis, as never before, conceptualized, choreographed and performed by Sufi Kathak Dancer,

Ms. Manjari Chaturvedi along with Qawwals from Awadh and classical musicians from Delhi. Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur, the 76th Custodian of the House of Mewar and Chairman and Managing Trustee of the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF), graced the occasion with his family and special invitees from the city and International guests visiting Udaipur.

Kartik Poornima is the only day of the year when Lord Brahma, the Creator of the Universe, is worshipped. At Udaipur's City Palace Complex, this ancient festival has always been a celebration with dance and music on this night of the full moon during the month of Kartik, according to the Hindu calendar.

"Kartik Poornima is an inspiring and uplifting festival", said Mr. Bhupendra Singh Auwa, Deputy Secretary - Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation - Administration, adding, "It is a regal festival that has been traditionally celebrated at the City Palace in Udaipur for centuries. We are proud to uphold this age-old tradition and make it meaningful for 21st century guests visiting Udaipur".

Book ‘Stealing Gods’ a book by the eminent author and art aficiando Ila Pal was introduced before the cultural program.

The dazzling full moon of Kartik Poornima reflecting in the waters of Lake Pichola set an atmosphere of intense splendor for Manjari Chaturvedi’s mystical dance performance with the fusion of Qawwali.

A special exhibition displayed merchandise from Aashka - The Lifestyle Boutique conceptualized by Ms. Bhargavi Kumari Mewar of Udaipur. Aashka promotes and develops crafts and artifacts from the Mewar region. Stone, marble, metal and semi-precious stone products were displayed for guests together with exclusive Amrapali Jewellery selected by Ms. Mewar, silver objects and Venetian glass were also on display. The Aashka boutique is located at The Manek Chowk, The City Palace Complex, Udaipur.

Kartik Poornima occupies a pride of place in the calendar of regal festivals organized each year by the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation. Holika Dahan, Gangaur and Ashwa Poojan are the other regal festivals celebrated with traditional splendour at the City Palace Complex by Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF). MMCF was established by His late Highness Maharana Bhagwat Singh ji Mewar in 1969. It has been facilitating the development of Udaipur as a heritage-city.
