The Yale Whiffenpoofs visit Udaipur
Founded in 1909, the "Whiffs" began as a senior musical quartet meeting for weekly concerts at Mory's Temple Bar, a famous Yale tavern. Today, the group has become one of Yale's most celebrated traditions. Every year, 14 senior Yale men are selected to be in the Whiffenpoofs, the world's oldest and best known collegiate a cappella group. The Group have performed for generations at a number of venues including The Lincoln Centre and the White House.
After graduation the Whiffs traditionally embark on a 13 week world tour in aid of a chosen charity. In 2008 during their visit to India they stayed in Udaipur for three nights at the Dovecote Wing of Fateh Prakash Palace. On the 7th July Princess Padmaja Kumari Mewar of Udaipur hosted a cocktail party for the group at Shambhu Niwas Palace. The whiffs were enchanted by their visit to India's famous heritage City of Lakes and delighted to meet members of Mewar royal family.
